Long-known as the American Society for Quality and established in 1946, ASQ has been the sole administrator of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program Award since 1991. ASQ marks the 25th anniversary of itsInternational Team Excellence Award at the World Conference on Quality and Improvement in 2010. ASQ’s participation and influence in international standards includes its role as the administrator of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group of the ISO 26000 standard on social responsibility, to be released in 2010.
Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., ASQ supports membership services and business operations through ASQ Global, ASQ China, and ASQ Mexico; with ASQ WorldPartners® around the globe; and through its work with ANAB and RABQSA.

Recertification
Two Ways to Recertify
Recertification Journal: Obtain a minimum of 18 recertification units during your three-year certification period. Document them in your recertification journal.
Examination: Sit for the exam. (Required if your certification expired and is past the six-month grace period.)
Do I Need to Recertify?
ASQ requires that you recertify the following certifications every three years to ensure that you maintain the same level of knowledge demonstrated in your first exam.

- HACCP Auditor
- Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence
- Pharmaceutical GMP Professional
- Quality Auditor
- Quality Engineer
- Reliability Engineer
- Software Quality Engineer
- Six Sigma Black Belt
- ASQ/DON Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
NOTE: Quality Inspector, Quality Improvement Associate, Quality Process Analyst, Quality Technician and Six Sigma Green Belt are lifetime certifications. They have no recertification requirements.
Retire Your Certification
If you retired from full-time employment, you may wish to also retire your ASQ certification.
The Philly Section 505
No matter where you reside or work through the US or worldwide, ASQ local sections, such as the Philly Section 505 strive to meet the member’s needs by providing training, certification, and knowledge in the field of quality. The Philly section provides auditing services, on site training, an interactive web-based knowledge repository, as well as the ability of any members or guests to connect with local experts in every possible industry.
